Hawks Athletic Club Dispute Resolution Process
The Hawks are committed to upholding integrity, respectful conduct, diversity, and strong ethical standards within our association. The game should be enjoyed by everyone in a safe and positive environment for everyone. It’s clear that hockey, whether played, coached, officiated, or watched, is better when all involved prioritize the well-being of the players.
Both adults and youth involved in our programs are expected to consistently demonstrate positive attitudes and appropriate behaviour. Teamwork and respect form the core of what the Hawks value most, and these values guide how we interact with one another.
The welfare of our participants is our highest priority. Through our conduct management program, designed to support adherence to all codes of conduct, we aim to help our players grow in their values, social development, physical health, and mental well-being. Our off-ice conduct policy sets out clear expectations for how volunteers, players, coaches, officials, and spectators should conduct themselves. These expectations include:
-
Showing respect for everyone
-
Ensuring safety and protection from harm
-
Acting ethically toward others
-
Promoting fairness, equity, and justice
-
Demonstrating care and compassion
-
Encouraging enjoyment and personal growth
-
Respecting the game of hockey
Every participant must follow these principles. Participants include players, coaches, on-ice officials, off-ice volunteers, and spectators. This Policy is not intended for concerns related to officiating decisions or general gameplay rules, nor does it override guidelines set by Hockey Alberta, Hockey Canada, or the EFHL. All participants are expected to uphold these standards at all times.
SUBMIT AN INFORMAL COMPLAINT
Informal complaints are intended to deal with minor infractions of the applicable Code of Conduct. Examples would include disrespectful conduct that does not reach the level of bullying, harassment or abuse, but is still not conduct that accords with the Hawks' goals of respect, tolerance, fair play, equality and diversity.
In the case of an informal complaint, the complainant will not be advised of the outcome. A letter will go to the person(s) complained of, outlining that a complaint has been made, the matter complained about, and recommended steps to resolve the complaint. Note that in the case of an informal complaint, the complainant will not be identified.
Please be sure to review the Codes of Conduct and the Off-Ice Code of Conduct Discipline Procedure before submitting your report. Details on our conduct policies can be found above.
