25-26 Coach of the Year – Coach Doug Glebe
Hawks Athletic Club Celebrates Doug Glebe as 2025–2026 Coach of the Year
The Hawks Athletic Club is proud to recognize Doug Glebe as our 2025–2026 Coach of the Year.
Doug was announced as this year’s recipient during Friday evening’s Hawks Volunteer Banquet, where coaches, volunteers, and board members gathered to celebrate another incredible season of hockey and community.
Selected through parent nominations submitted as part of the Hawks Coach Feedback Survey, Doug stood out not only for the number of nominations he received, but for the consistency and passion behind the comments shared by families throughout the season.
Parents repeatedly highlighted Doug’s leadership, positivity, fairness, and ability to create an environment where players felt supported, challenged, and excited to come to the rink. Some of the comments shared by families included:
“Doug created a team culture where every player felt valued.”
“Our child grew in confidence so much this season.”
“He balanced competitiveness with positivity and development perfectly.”
“The kids respected him, listened to him, and genuinely loved being part of the team.”
“Doug went above and beyond for the players and families all season long.”
Throughout the survey process, one of the strongest themes that emerged was the impact Doug had not only on player development, but on the overall experience families had within Hawks hockey this season. Doug was the coach this year of our U13 team HK504 – a team with an incredibly varied skillset of kids and without a goalie on their roster. Yes, you heard that right. Doug and his team worked tirelessly through the year to ensure that they could pull up goalies from U11 for every game. With only a few hiccups and panicked text messages, HK504 had an incredibly successful season that included a Minor Hockey Week gold medal.
Coach of the Year recognition is awarded to a coach who demonstrates outstanding leadership, commitment, sportsmanship, and positive impact on players and team culture — qualities families clearly saw reflected in Doug throughout the season.
The Hawks Athletic Club would like to thank Doug, along with all of our volunteer coaches, for the countless hours they dedicate to supporting our players both on and off the ice.
Congratulations, Doug, on a well-deserved recognition and an outstanding season behind the bench.
